The transformation of King’s Cross

London King’s Cross has been undergoing something of a revamp of late.

Needless to say, quite a bit of work has gone in to revamping this magnificent piece of architecture.

We took a visit last week, and these are our first pictures of the stunning new Western Concourse.

Designed by John McAslan, the curved lattice roof is the first thing you notice upon stepping into departures. It reaches out over the concourse, symbolically protecting those waiting passengers underneath from the elements.

That’s not all – platforms have been refurbished, there’s new walkways, the original metalwork on the main station has been restored, and there’s more to come – namely, the removal of that canopy at the front of the station.
